The importance of getting your air to water air source heat pump serviced

For a comfortable, efficient, and sustainable heating solution, the Grant Aerona³ R32 air to water air source heat pump has become one of the most popular home heating technologies throughout Ireland. However, as Autumn approaches it is important that homeowners ensure their heat pump is serviced annually by a trained technician, to allow for optimum efficiency throughout the colder months.

Here’s a few of the most frequently asked questions about air source heat pump services:

Q. Why do I need to get my air source heat pump serviced?

As your air source heat pump operates on demand in all weather conditions, all year round, an annual service ensures that your heat pump is working at its optimum efficiency, from an environmental and economical viewpoint.

Q. How often do I need to get my air source heat pump serviced?

Under the terms of the Grant Aerona³ R32 air source heat pump range warranty, your heat pump must be serviced and maintained once a year and the service should only be completed by a trained and competent technician, using the correct equipment.

Q. What’s involved in an air source heat pump service?

Here’s a brief overview of what’s involved in an air source heat pump service:

  • An overall inspection of the air source heat pump unit is carried out.
  • Cleaning of the evaporator fins. It is important to note that there is a specific method of cleaning the fins which can only be carried out by a trained technician and damage to the air source heat pump unit through inadequate cleaning will invalidate the warranty.
  • Checking to ensure the fan outlet and service drain are clear.
  • The pipework, insulation and electric sleeves are all checked for any issues.
  • The expansion vessel charge and system pressure are checked.
  • The technician will then use a refractor to check the Glycol antifreeze concentration levels and then they will clean the magnetic filter.
  • The heat pump control settings are then checked to ensure that the heat pump is operating at the correct temperatures.
  • The annual service record is then logged to confirm the service was carried out by a professional.

Q. How long will my air source heat pump last if I get a yearly service?

The Grant Aerona³ R32 air source heat pump can have a life span of over 15 years with regular maintenance and inspection. In order for your heat pump to work reliably and efficiently for this duration, a yearly service is extremely important.
