  |

The ambitious renovation and upgrade of an old farm cottage in Crinkle, Birr, Co. Offaly, has had a Grant renewable heating system installed taking this property from an old, outdated cottage to a sizeable modern-day bungalow.

The Grant integrated heating system specified for this project features a Grant Aerona³ R32 air to water air source heat pump, Grant pre-plumbed hot water cylinder, 30 litre Grant Volumiser, Grant Uflex underfloor heating system and smart heating controls.

A 10kW Grant Aerona³ R32 air to water, air source heat pump was installed in the property, which can achieve high SCOP’s and is sustainable at low temperatures. The Grant Aerona³ range has an ErP of A+++ and is amongst the most efficient air to water heat pumps in Ireland and is easy to install with its compact size. . The Grant Aerona heat pump range offers cleaner, more environmentally friendly performance and can lower a property’s overall carbon footprint, whilst helping to achieve required compliance under building regulations.

Working alongside the heat pump is the Grant 200l A-rated pre-plumbed and pre-wired cylinder which has been designed to complement the heat pump’s operation and heats domestic hot water. The heat emitters installed in the property further assist the heat pump, enabling it to work at maximum efficiency. Throughout the bungalow, the Grant Uflex underfloor heating system has been installed to offer even distribution of heat throughout the entire property.

To control the heating system, the owner opted for Grants slim and stylish smart controls, which can be set to provide different room temperatures and different time intervals on individual heating zones, with the click of a button. The Grant smart controls system can be controlled via a standalone thermostat by an app on your smartphone.

Grant worked directly with Joe Brophy Plumbing & Heating who was the installer appointed to work on this renovation project, to ensure the whole process was hassle-free for the homeowner and all compliance required under Part L building control was achieved.

This bespoke heating system was designed by Grants technical specialists to ensure that the 185 square metre bungalow is heated as efficiently as possible for many years to come, increasing the overall efficiency of the property, and enabling long-term carbon and cost savings for the owner.
