Air source heat pumps are rising in popularity throughout Ireland and the UK, providing an alternative, sustainable home heating solution. The Grant Aerona³ R32 air to water air source heat pump is also helping homeowners to save money on energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint.
A heat pump is a versatile electrical appliance featuring an efficient heating system which extracts heat from one source and transfers it to another, working like a fridge and an air conditioning unit. In a similar method to any fridge, cold air is passed through a grille containing a liquid refrigerant. This causes the liquid to change to a gas, generating a little heat. This gas is then compressed, greatly increasing the temperature again, which in turn is transferred to the heating system pipework. This is called the vapour compression cycle and has been in existence since the 1850s.
Unlike some conventional heating systems, the Grant Aerona³ R32 air to water air source heat pump remains exceptionally efficient even during winter months, keeping homes warm when it is needed most. Air source heat pumps absorb the heat from the outside air to heat both the home and hot water, even when the air temperature reaches up to -15oC.
Our Grant Aerona³ R32 range is available in outputs of 6kW, 10kW, 13kW and 17kW and has an ErP rating of A+++, with a SCOP of up to 5.4:1. Seasonal Co-efficient of Performance (SCOP) is an independently verified efficiency of a heat pump over a 12-month period, based on both heating and hot water production. So, because the Grant Aerona³ is up to 5.4 to 1 of a SCOP this means that 1kW of electricity can give up to 5.4kW of heat output. This is an exceptionally high efficiency and is confirmed with the fact that all the Aerona heat pumps are A+++ rated.
In addition to providing efficient home heating when temperatures drop, air to water air source heat pumps offer a great way to lower carbon emissions and future-proof a home heating system for its changing heating needs. The Grant Aerona³ R32 air to water air source heat pump can also heat water consistently providing hot water all year-round.
Like any heat pump, the Grant Aerona³ R32 range requires electricity to run and ensuring the heat pump is correctly sized to suit the home is vitally important. Homeowners can also avail of cheaper night rate electricity to ensure low running costs.
